August is probably the best time to think about your garden. Vegetation is lush and flowers are in full bloom and these things mean one thing: one needs to put in even more effort to keep plants and flowers in their best form. This month can be a challenging month for maintaining landscape, but it must be done.
Gardens are counting on the homeowners to do their best to keep their garden thriving despite the heat. It is also the best time to start preparing for the fall season that is coming up ahead.
The simplest solution is to call a landscaper or your gardener. However there are things that you can do on your own to keep your garden beautiful this season. Now you have a reason to get up and get out.
For your lawn:
- Pull weeds out
- Harvest more often
- Add mulch or compost, these two will keep your garden cool
- Remove damaged leaves, do not wait for it to fall down
- Have a couple of houseplants indoors.
- Water plants before 9 in the morning. Water often but not when it is scorching hot and the containers get soaked in warm water.
- Make sure that your plants are free of pests.
It is important that you have planned the vegetables or flowers in your yard as there are flowers or other plants that are seasonal. This may be a good time to replant or replace seasonal greens. Also, avoid working on your garden when it is very hot.
Needless to say, the easiest thing to do is have someone come regularly to work on you property’s landscape. It is also good to be able to do many tasks for your garden by yourself.
